breakfast of champions

i did not invent that title. i borrowed it. illegally. i'm such a gangsta'(as my boys would say....like when i sneak la croix grapefruit sparkling water into the movie theater) ::ahem:: back to what i really want to talk about....

i'm not interested in re-inventing the wheel. or re-inventing anything. i am interested in recognizing what is working and what isn't.

what has worked for me--for feeling good and losing weight. eating breakfast.

i stopped eating breakfast regularly in high school. i know.

when i was really most successful in my weight loss, i was eating breakfast every morning, within 2 hours of getting out of bed. nothing i have to think about. the same thing every morning.

my breakfast of choice?
oatmeal with lots of cinnamon (much more than a dash), blueberries and a splash of milk.

it is warm and creamy and fruity--a little nutty and delicious. it's not pie. but, it's almost a cobbler. yum-meeeee:)

what are you eating for breakfast? you are eating breakfast, aren't you? you know it's the most important meal of the day, right? oh, right. sorry. went a little *momma* on you. my apologies.

  1. I forgot breakfast this morning. Oatmeal and blueberries is one of my favorites. This morning Starbucks gingerbread...don't really want to know how many points it was.

  2. I eat seeds now! Never thought that seeds could hold me. No, not a pile of seeds! I grind them. Then treat them like oatmeal.

  3. I'm horrible at eating breakfast so I probably shouldn't tell you I had a cookie right? The think is I need my coffee and then I get into doing something and oops what happened to breakfast. Love how the blueberries are turning the oatmeal purple, looks yummy! Sometimes we get so hung up on how we think our blog should be and it wastes so much of my time!

  4. Love this post Deborah...my breakfast challenge at the moment?
Same as you! Oatmeal with a splash of frozen mixed berries (fresh blueberries if I can find them) a dash of Omega 3 oil because it is oh so good for you...and a latte on the side. Make that 2 lattes :)

Come summer it is muesli and fresh blueberries everyday...with those 2 lattes again :)

If I am feeling really good or grump...I stop in to my favourite cafe for a blueberry muffin...it does not do wonders for the diet but by that point I don't really care :)

Thanks for stopping by...I can see it is going to be fun following you...love the blog title photo!

  5. I'm still a fruit smoothie girl. I make one every morning with fresh berries, bananas, fat free vanilla yogurt, juice and ice. Although I LOVE oatmeal, too, I always like it better when someone else makes it for me. I never have luck with the microwave kind as I usually boil it over and make a giant mess. Breakfast is by far my favorite meal of the day. I love scrambled eggs for dinner with mexican cheese and salsa (and now I am hungry - rats!).
